
I participated in a small but stimulating workshop, "Mathemathics: Evolved or Eternal?", organized by Sara Walker at the Beyond Center for Fundamental Concepts in Science, in Arizona State University. The lineup of participants was quite varied and interesting, from physicists and mathematicians, to historians and philosophers, and anything in between. I was particularly intrigued by Stephen Wolfram's take on 'reality' as something built through elementary computational processes. I was later able to prompt him to 'compute biology' using some ideas I've had for a while. We had fun with 'organic computation':

I had a great time visiting the folks at the new School of Complex Adaptive Systems at ASU. I gave a talk on relational models of self-organization.
